Throughout February, students across southern Indiana’s District 9 have organized a wave of walkouts, marches, and rallies in response to the impact of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on families across the United States. What began as conversations among students has grown into a coordinated month of youth-led civic action stretching across towns and state lines. Earlier this month, students from New Albany High School organized a march through downtown New Albany, drawing strong participation and community attention. The demonstration moved along the town’s main thoroughfare, with students carrying handmade signs, chanting, and calling for the abolishment of ICE. The march helped set the tone for what has become a sustained, student-driven movement throughout the region.
